Not possible to delete downloads after subscription ends

I downloaded some comics with smart downloads and downloaded some without smart option from my own local server to my own (local) iPhone. While I think it’s stupid to continous pay for a local feature, I cancelled my subscription. Now it’s not possible to delete these downloads other than to delete the app completely and re-install + re-enter all settings, because the sync on Apples iCloud within iOS is also hidden behind a subscription paywall. So the best option is not to subscribe, if there is no setting to delete the unusable 50GB data of these downloads…?
